Rape Case of Kolkata Doctor : “Moumita Debnath”

Dr. Moumita Debnath, a second-year postgraduate trainee at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata was raped and murdered on 9 August , 2024 .

The autopsy report of the trainee doctor who was raped murdered and allegedly raped at RG Kar hospital indicates that she was assaulted multiple times before murder . The trainee doctor was ‘sexually assaulted’ multiple times by more than one person before she was strangulated and smothered to death, revealed the autopsy report of the woman doctor who was found dead at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9.According to the PTI report, the autopsy report has indicated multiple penetrations and injuries to several parts of the body. The autopsy report also debunks the claims that the woman was raped after being murdered. The report stated that her death was “homicidal” and “antemortem” and hinted towards an alleged gang rape of the junior doctor of the government-run hospital in Kolkata.

Doctors strike against Rape -murder case hits services all over nation says “# No Rape” .

The 31-year -old second-year postgraduate medical student who was on a 36 hours shift at the RG Kar medical college and hospital reportedly went to the seminar room to rest at 2 PM on Friday the next morning , her body was found with atleast 10 injuries . There was bleeding from his eyes , mouth and genitals .There were also several injuries on her face , neck , belly , left leg , ankle , right hand , ring finger and lips reported first post on monday .The police says that circumstancial evidence points to the possibility that the doctor was first murdered and then raped . A civic volunteer with the kolkata police , who reportedly have a history of being violent against women has been arrested in this case . But the protesting doctors says that the arrest in not enough . They want the hospital authorities to be held responsible . They point out that the state government run hospital had no proper rest-rooms for on-call-doctors , No CCTV Cameras in the seminar halls , No screening for outsiders entering the hospital at night and no proper washrooms for female doctors who are made to do long night shifts without any proper security . Doctors across INDIA say this is a NORM . Trainee Doctors are exploited and made to work in unsafe conditions . A survey by the Indian medical association found that over 75% of Doctors in india have faced violence at work and still there has been no serious action to protect them .

Across cities , Doctors in different government hospitals have halted elective services and called for an indefinite strike demanding justice in this case and protection for all healthcare workers and Doctors .

The parents told that significant amount of semen found in her body . Their petition reportedly said that Autopsy found 150 mg of semen in victims body . it suggests that more than one single individual is involved in this heinous crime . Her parents claimed that atleast 3 individuals are involved in strangulating their Daughter , They also alleged that improper Autopsy was done to shield others involved .

CIVIC VOLUNTEER SANJOY ROY (Rapist) , ARRESTED BY KOLKATA POLICE ON AUGUST 10 , REPORTEDLY ADMITTED TO HIS CRIME . No steps were taken to arrets any other offenders while the evidence clearly indicates that their daughter was the victim of a gang rape and murder , a crime that could not have been committed by one person alone .

Calcutta High Court on August 13 transferred the probe to CBI – The Central Investigation Body . Court had asked why the hospital didn’t file police complaint after the doctor was found dead . The Horrific incident has triggered nationwide protests by resident doctors and medical students .
